Our Suppliers

We are committed to developing long term relationships with small scale producers of the highest quality that share our ethos.  We want to be part of a sustainable food industry, and the only way that we can do this is if we communicate closely all the way through the food supply chain – understanding where our food comes from and embracing the challenges and opportunities that nature presents us with. We think we’ve all lost touch a little bit with this way of thinking, and we want to do our bit to reverse this trend. Here’s a little bit about our main suppliers……if you know of any other great suppliers around North Devon or further afield please let us know.

Real Bread from Red Dog Bakery in Whitstone, on the Devon/Cornwall border.  Roger and Sally are passionate about #realbread, using minimal high quality ingredients and slow fermentation processes to make a delicious range of breads.  We are proud to be able to offer their bread to purchase as well, although we generally need advance notice (order by Tuesday for collection on a Friday)

We source our coffee from Origin Coffee based in Helston, Cornwall – we use their Pathfinder blend as our house coffee.  They’re a cool bunch and know their coffees.   We are super proud that Origin are at the forefront of the UK specialty coffee scene.   Jesse Dodkins, Origin’s Training Manger was recently a finalist in the UK Barista Championship, marking him out as one of the 6 best baristas in the country!  We’re excited to be working with one of the UK’s most forward thinking roasters who also care about the coffee supply chain right back to the coffee farmers and their communities.

We use organic, free range eggs from Little Comfort Farm in Braunton, North Devon. We think these eggs taste absolutely amazing, and it’s great to know they’re from just down the road.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)

We are lucky enough to have developed relationships with some of the finest olive oil producers in the world and feature their premium oils throughout our menu.  Sadly most olive oil classified as extra virgin should not be, undermining the value of products which are produced only using perfectly ripe olives and extracted as soon after picking as possible.  High quality EVOO is incredibly rich in polyphenols and antioxidants as well as rich in Omega 3.  And the taste is unbelievable, with different varieties of olives producing flavours as diverse as ripe tomato, green banana and artichoke leaf. We’re always happy to pour a sample of any of these great oils, and we sell them too for you to take home.
